"Fleur de Tigre"

This was a carrot cake I made for my boss's birthday. Tried a new recipe...it was to die for. I hand painted the "fleur de tigre" onto fondant. It was my first time painting, and I was pretty pleased with the outcome.

Cake for "Gay-A" Meeting

This cake needs some explaining. A lady I work with and her husband celebrated their three year "sobriety" anniversary this past weekend. She lost both of her sons tragically, so it was a major accomplishment. Her husband contacted me to make a cake for their meeting and he wanted something funny. To top it off, most of the members in their meeting are gay, hence the rainbow. I had a lot of fun doing it, and he loved it.

Finished this Blue's Clues cake at midnight last night. It was a little more time consuming than I anticipated, as I hand cut each little character out of fondant. I tried this new "upside down" icing technique that was supposed to give you really crisp edges, however I think I used the wrong type paper, b/c when I went to pull it off, it took the whole top of the cake off. Lovely! Oh well...I re-iced and went on. Hope he likes it!

This is a cake I made for a lady at work's mom who was celebrating her 75th birthday. I got some good cutters for roses and had a lot of fun making these. I think she was pleased.

Here is my final project for my gumpaste/fondant class. Bekah and I had a lot of fun. I was pleased with the results of my first flowers, and I think Ms. Martha was pleased with her cake. I can see this gumpaste flower thing quickly turning into an obsession.
